Get started with MCP in just a few simple steps.

Prerequisites

  • Professional or Enterprise Plan - MCP requires a Professional+ subscription
  • AI Assistant - Claude Desktop, Cursor IDE, or another MCP-compatible assistant

Step 1: Generate an MCP Key

  1. Log in to your Zuro account
  2. Go to SettingsSecurityMCP Keys
  3. Click "Create MCP Key"
  4. Enter a name (e.g., "Claude Desktop" or "Cursor IDE")
  5. Select the permissions you want to grant
  6. Copy the key immediately - it's only shown once!

Step 2: Configure Your AI Assistant

The setup depends on which AI assistant you're using:

Claude Desktop

See: Setting Up MCP with Claude Desktop

Cursor IDE

See: Setting Up MCP with Cursor IDE

Other Assistants

  1. Find your assistant's MCP configuration
  2. Add Zuro as an MCP server with URL: https://api.zuro.me/api/mcp
  3. Use your MCP key for authentication (as query parameter: ?key=YOUR_KEY)
  4. Restart your AI assistant

Step 3: Test Your Connection

Once configured, test by asking your AI assistant:

  • "List my knowledge bases"
  • "Show me articles in my help center"
  • "What analytics do you have access to?"

If the assistant can access your Zuro data, you're all set!

Managing Your MCP Keys

Viewing Keys

  • All your MCP keys are listed in Settings → Security → MCP Keys
  • You can see when each key was last used and usage count

Deleting Keys

  • Click delete next to any key
  • Confirm the deletion
  • The key is immediately revoked

Best Practices

  • Use descriptive names - Name keys based on their purpose
  • Minimal permissions - Only grant permissions you actually need
  • Secure storage - Never share your MCP keys publicly
  • Rotate regularly - Delete old keys and create new ones periodically

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues:

  1. Verify your plan - Ensure you have Professional or Enterprise
  2. Check key permissions - Make sure your key has the required permissions
  3. Verify key format - Ensure the key starts with zuro_mcp_
  4. Check rate limits - You may have hit your rate limit
  5. Review error messages - Check your AI assistant's error logs
